Ways to Obtain Your License
Due to recent changes by the State of Ohio Department of Public Safety, teen drivers now have two options for completing their drivers’ education requirements necessary for obtaining a license.
The State of Ohio requires students to complete 24 hours of classroom training and eight hours of behind the wheel training at a state certified drivers education school. Students must also have their permit for six months prior to licensing.
The first option for obtaining your license is attending in-classroom sessions. Students take classes in a traditional classroom setting on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. for 2 weeks (6 classes total). Students also receive eight hours of driver training with a state certified instructor.
The second option is taking online classes. Students can take the required 24 hours of classroom training online. Classes are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can be completed at the students’ own pace in a private setting. The student must also complete eight hours of behind the wheel training with an instructor.
After the student completes their classes and the fees are paid, a parent, guardian, or the student should call to schedule behind-the-wheel training. When both parts of the training have been completed, we will mail the certificate.
